Tough news for the Bears offense.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus held his Monday press conference and shared that standout receiver Darnell Mooney is "likely" to have surgery on his left ankle and it would be season-ending.

Mooney was injured in the second half while blocking on a run play for David Montgomery.

He was assisted off the field and went straight to the locker room with the ankle issue.

For the season, Mooney led the team with 40 catches for 493 yards and two touchdowns.

"You hate to see for us offensively a guy like 'Moon' go down," said tight end Cole Kmet. "Just a bright vibrant guy in the huddle and obviously a big playmaker. So when you lose him it's tough, for sure."

The Bears (3-9) host the Packers (4-8) on Sunday at Soldier Field.
