OL Doug Kramer healthy, ready to compete in rookie minicamp

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears are gearing up for their rookie minicamp and one player to watch out for is center Doug Kramer.

Drafted by the Bears in the sixth round last year, Kramer missed the entire 2022 season due to a lower leg injury he sustained during the preseason.

Now, he is finally healthy and ready to compete.

With Cody Whitehair's history of playing better at the center and Lucas Patrick expected to be healthy and ready to compete, Kramer's role on the team may be in question. However, the Bears are hoping to use the rookie minicamp as an opportunity to evaluate his potential as bench depth.

While some fans and writers have been scratching their heads over the Bears' decision not to draft a center this year, it's important to remember that they did draft Kramer last year.

Despite his injury, he has been working hard to learn both the center and guard positions and become more familiar with the playbook.

Kramer was a four-year starter at Illinois and has an outstanding Relative Athletic Score (RAS) score, indicating his potential to excel at the professional level.

With a year of rest and time to focus on getting stronger, he could be a valuable addition to the Bears offensive line.

Think of Kramer as a redshirt freshman who is ready to step up and make an impact on the team.

The Bears are excited to see what he can bring to the table during the rookie minicamp and beyond. If he performs well, he could earn himself a spot on the roster and become a key contributor for years to come.
