Bears reportedly interested in speedy WR prospect Peter Afful

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears are on the hunt for some fresh talent to bolster their roster, and draft prospect Peter Afful has reportedly caught their eye.

Afful, a wide receiver who played college football at Washburn University, has been making waves with his impressive performance at the Kansas Pro Day, where he was clocked in the 4.3s in the 40-yard dash.

Afful's speed is certainly an asset, with a 4.35 40-yard dash time under his belt. But as the experts know, speed isn't everything. The Bears have had experience with highly touted prospects like Velus Jones, Anthony Miller, and Kevin White, who all had impressive speed but didn't necessarily live up to expectations.

That being said, Afful has more than just speed to offer. He's a two-time all-conference wide receiver, which is no small feat, and he also boasts a 39-inch vertical jump. His athleticism and skills on the field have clearly caught the attention of the Bears, who are in need of some fresh talent in the wide receiver position.

Afful finished seventh in the league in receiving yards with 660, and his eight touchdowns was third in the MIAA.

He finished his collegiate career in 23 games recording 1,220 receiving yards on 63 catches with 16 touchdowns, and was third in program history in yards per catch at 19.37.

Of course, whether or not the Bears ultimately select Afful in the upcoming draft remains to be seen. But the fact that they are showing interest in him is a good sign for the young prospect, who is undoubtedly hoping to make his mark in the NFL.
