Matt Nagy tests positive for COVID-19 |
Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy has tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning and will quarantine.
Nagy held his Monday press conference in his car via Zoom. "It's a reminder for all of us to be extremely cautious and to understand where we're at," Nagy said. "We've seen it with other teams in the league and society in general, so we're working through that." Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will take up some of the slack by Nagy's absence handling some head-coaching duties. "Coach Tabor will go ahead and run any of the team meetings that I would not be a part of," Nagy said. "That again is what we did in [rookie minicamp] … We created a plan two years ago when we started this thing. We have a role for every coach ad the roles that if we don't have a coach, who steps in. That's how well go moving forward. "We kind of went through this before where I was out. I know our group of coaches and players are extremely resilient. For us moving forward, we're going to have a good plan in place." Nagy said he has had no symptoms and hasn't heard of any new COVID-19 cases within the team. "As of now, no," Nagy said. "We're still working through some of the team. But that's a good sign for sure. We need to make sure that we do everything we're supposed to do here in regards to the protocols." Best wishes from BearsHQ to Nagy on a full and quick recovery from COVID-19. As of now, offensive tackle Elijah Wilkinson, linebacker Robert Quinn, linebacker Caleb Johnson, and tight end Jimmy Graham are on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
