Bears name Justin Fields starting quarterback |
The Chicago Bears have a new QB1.
During Matt Nagy's media availability on Wednesday, he said that rookie signal-caller Justin Fields is the starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. “Not just the last week or two, this whole entire time we’ve see incremental growth,” Nagy said. “This isn’t something that happened just right away. He’s earned it. He’s worked hard. There’s a lot of discussions that go into this.” Fields went 11-for-17, passing for 209 yards in the win against the Lions. For the season, Fields has passed for 347 yards with a rushing touchdown and two interceptions. Fields was happy to hear about the starting quarterback news. "It was good news of course… I was a little bit surprised… I’m ready for the opportunity.” Nagy went on to say that Dalton is healthy and ready to go this week but will be in the backup mentor role.
