Adbert Alzolay injury update |
The Chicago Cubs have missed their standout closer, Adbert Alzolay, as he has been dealing with a forearm strain the last few weeks.
Alzolay went to get a second opinion on his injury in Texas from Dr. Keith Meister. “He went to the doctor,” Counsell said to the media. “Kind of confirmed it’s going to be a while. He’s shut down right now from throwing for probably two weeks minimum, and then we’ll go from there." The Cubs aren't sure how long he will be out and whether or not his injury will require surgery at some point. “But it could be longer than that. That’s where we’re at right now. Treat it conservatively and see where we’re at in two weeks.” It was obvious that something wasn't right this season, as Alzolay had a 4.67 ERA and only four saves with five blown saves in 18 appearances. He had the same injury last September that caused him to miss two weeks during a crucial stretch of games.
