The Chicago Cubs have traded righty pitcher Hayden Wesneski, third baseman Isaac Paredes and third base prospect Cam Smith for three-time All-Star Kyle Tucker. Tucker hit .289 with 23 homers and 49 RBIs in just 78 games. He was injured half of the season with a shin fracture. He is set to make around $17 million for the 2025 season and then will be a free agent. In 2023, he hit .284 with 29 homers and 112 RBIs while swiping 30 bases. That type of production led him to fifth place in the MVP voting. He has also won a Gold Glove Award in 2022. Paredes is under team control through 2027 and is projected to make $6.9 million. Wesneski had a 3.86 ERA in 28 appearances in 2024. Smith was drafted 14th overall in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He hit .313 with seven homers in 32 games last season.
