Cubs coach has reportedly interviewed for two managerial jobs

by - Senior Editor -

The offseason has begun for teams not left in the 2018 MLB Playoffs.

According to MLB insider Jon Morosi on Monday, Cubs bench coach Brandon Hyde has interviewed for two managerial gigs.

"Cubs bench coach Brandon Hyde has interviewed for Rangers and Angels managerial vacancies, sources confirm," Morosi posted. "Hyde, an under-the-radar name in the past, is now an active candidate in multiple MLB managerial searches."

Hyde did an in-person interview with the Rangers at Arlington on Thursday.

He has been with the Cubs since 2014 as a bench coach this past season and in 2014 with Rick Renteria and also a first base coach from 2015-2017.

It appears that the Cubs might have a much different look and feel in 2019 with the dismissal of Chili Davis and the possible promotion of Hyde elsewhere.
