Dansby Swanson MRI update |
Good news for the Northsiders.
Chicago Cubs star shortstop Dansby Swanson had an MRI on his swollen right wrist following Tuesday night's win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Cubs manager David Ross announced that Swanson's MRI came back negative and said if today was a playoff game that Swanson would be in the lineup. "Almost certainly one game," Ross said about how long Swanson would be out of the lineup. "He could play today. There's no doubt he could play today. He was like, 'We're just wasting time. It's going to hurt.' It's how he's wired. He wants to be out there." Swanson stayed in the game after getting hit by a pitch Tuesday and finished the contest. However, he will be out of this afternoon's game with the Pirates as Nico Hoerner will fill in at shortstop. Swanson is hitting .263 for the season with seven homers and 31 RBIs.
