Injury updates on Jameson Taillon, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Julian Merryweather |
Here are a few injury updates on the Chicago Cubs as they prepare for Monday night's game against the San Diego Padres.
Starting pitcher Jameson Taillon was healthy during his rehab start and will join Triple-A Iowa to continue his rehab assignment as he works back to the MLB level. Taillon pitched just 2 2/3 innings on Sunday, allowing four runs (3ER) on six hits for the Tennessee Smokies. Top Cubs prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong was taken out of the game yesterday after having elbow soreness after diving in the outfield on a play recently. PCA is hitting .265 with a homer and four RBIs in 34 at-bats at Iowa this season. Veteran reliever Julian Merryweather was recently placed on the injured list, and Cubs manager Craig Counsell announced on Monday that the MRI revealed a rib stress fracture in his back. He will be out likely a minimum of 8 weeks on the IL. In four appearances this season, Merryweather has posted a sparkling 1.93 ERA with six strikeouts and two walks.
