Kyle Hendricks injury update |
Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks will remain on the disabled list with his right-hand tendinitis. Hendricks tried to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday and felt discomfort with the injury. He is 4-3 with a 4.09 ERA (28 ER/61.2 IP) in 11 starts with the Cubs this season.
Joe Maddon told reporters on Friday that the hand injury is not really getting much better. "It's an awkward injury," Maddon said. "It's an inflammation kind of thing and it's sore and it's not going away." The Cubs will wait for him to come off the disabled list until he is pain-free and they don't currently have an estimate for his return. The starters for this weekend against the Pittsburgh Pirates will be Eddie Butler, Jake Arrieta, and John Lackey.
