Update on Cubs interviewing managers |
The post-Maddon era has begun.
The Chicago Cubs have begun their managerial interviews according to multiple reports on Friday. Current bench coach Mark Loretta interviewed with the team on Tuesday while Joe Girardi, David Ross, and Will Venable will interview next week for the vacated position. It's an interesting group with Ross likely the front-runner as of today while Joe Giraldi has a wealth of experience managing at the big league level. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out in the next few weeks. "We're looking for someone who can help the whole be as good or exceed the sum of the parts," Epstein said of what Cubs executives are looking for in the managerial search. "We want a manager who can get the most out of each individual player." Here is my Cubs thought for the day: Not sure why this WOULD NOT be David Ross' job to lose. At last year's winter meetings, the Cubs front office said they were missing a 'David Ross' type in there. Well, now they can just hire him. Totally just my opinion, nothing more.
I’m getting a few of these tweets. Maddon is not a Ross type guy and vice versa. https://t.co/kAGSBEolLf
