Chicago Cubs pitcher Jameson Taillon spoke to the media after earning the win in Sacramento, as the Cubs sweep the A's.

“It’s gonna be a deep lineup,” Taillon said. “I think I saw something last year: Seiya hit eight of our 10 farthest home runs. Like he’s got that ability. Just cool to see him get going.”

Taillon is impressed by the Cubs offense and thinks they will be a tough out this season.

“With him and Tucker going at the same time, it lets everyone relax in their spots in the lineup,” Taillon said. “They can carry a lineup by themselves and then you have everyone else doing their job, working counts and getting on base, it’s gonna be tough for pitchers.”

Video summary/cliff-notes:

(00:01 - 00:30): Jameson Taillon attributes his high swing-and-miss rate to improved mechanics, narrowing his stance, and refining his delivery between starts with coaching support.

(00:30 - 01:27): He focuses on executing pitches aggressively and sees early swing-and-miss results as a sign of good fastball deception and improved metrics.

(01:27 - 02:22): Taillon has been working on his changeup more seriously this year, finally feeling confident that it can be a real weapon in his arsenal.

(02:22 - 02:52): The changeup is especially useful against left-handed batters, helping him avoid predictability and reduce slugging against him.

(02:52 - 03:52): He praises a teammate's aggressive approach at the plate, highlighting their ability to carry the lineup and make it tougher for opposing pitchers.

(03:52 - 04:21): Taillon discusses ballpark conditions, noting that despite the wind, Wrigley Field played fairly, and the home run he gave up was on a poorly executed pitch.

(04:21 - 05:18): Excited to return to Wrigley Field for the home opener, Taillon looks forward to the atmosphere, sleeping in his own bed, and playing in front of Cubs fans.
