WATCH: Javy Baez thanks the Cubs fans in return to Wrigley Field |
El Mago is back at the friendly confines.
Former Chicago Cubs fan favorite Javy Baez is back at Wrigley Field for the first time since being traded and is still emotional thinking about his time as a Cubs player. "To all the fans out there, especially here in Chicago, thank you," Baez said in the pregame of Tuesday night's game between the Chicago Cubs and the Detroit Tigers. “As players, we did a lot for the community – especially Tony Rizzo. He did a lot for this city. And Jon Lester. They really care about the team, the sport and winning too.” Baez was asked by a reporter about how often he thinks about the 2016 World Championship team. "Probably every day, to be honest," Baez said. "I got a tattoo of the trophy. So that's always going to be special. I still got the ring. I always try to take it everywhere so nobody steals it. But it’s always there, always on my mind." "To all the fans out there, especially here in Chicago, thank you."
