Chicago Cubs rookie first baseman Matt Mervis smacked a solo homer to right field to put the Cubs up 1-0 against the Giants on Saturday night.

The homer went 420 feet with an exit velocity of 420 MPH, and it was his third homer of the season.

"I put him in the right spot," David Ross joked while on the telecast moments after the homer.

The Cubs desperately need Mervis to get going for some much-needed offense in the lineup.
