NEW YORK – The Chicago Cubs today activated left-handed pitcher Wade Miley off the 15-day injured list, activated both catcher Yan Gomes and infielder Jonathan Villar off the 10-day injured list, and reinstated right-handed pitcher Chris Martin from the restricted list.
In corresponding moves, right-handed pitcher Marcus Stroman has been placed on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 7) with right shoulder inflammation, and right-handed pitcher Michael Rucker and infielder Alfonso Rivas have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa. To make room for Martin on the 40-man roster, outfielder Clint Frazier has been designated for assignment.
Miley will make tonight’s start in Chicago’s series opener against the New York Yankees at 6:05 p.m. CT at Yankee Stadium.

Ross on Frazier move (needed the 40-man spot for Martin): “We haven’t been able to give him real opportunities to watch him succeed right now. It was just one of those tough decisions.”— Gordon Wittenmyer (@GDubCub) June 10, 2022
“He was upset. Emotional would be a good word.”
