Bears DB injured, taken from field on stretcher to hospital |
Chicago Bears cornerback Douglas Coleman III was taken on an ambulance after an injury during Thursday night's 34-21 Bears win against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Coleman was trying to make a tackle on the running back near the sideline and was hit on the head/neck region on the first play of the second half. He was motionless for a while, and then the trainers put him on a medical cart after placing him on a mobilizing board and stabilizing him on a stretcher. Both teams took a knee on the field as they watched on. The Kansas City Fire Department ambulance rushed him to the hospital. Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said during his postgame press conference that Coleman said he was moving his extremities. “When I was on the field, over there on the Chiefs sideline, he was moving his limbs and gave us a thumbs-up,” Eberflus said, “so that was good to see. I don’t have anything more. He’s at the hospital right now being evaluated.” This preseason, he has three tackles and a forced fumble. He has played with the Ottawa Redblacks for the last three seasons, mostly as a safety and linebacker. In 2023, he had 60 tackles, four sacks, three interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns. Coleman is an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech back in 2020. In 2019, he was named All-Big 1st team. Here's the scary scene from Arrowhead.
