Start’em or Sit’em in Fantasy Football: Bears v. Packers

CHICAGO - Chicago’s wide receiver injuries are hitting at a bad time for fantasy owners as both Rome Odunze (foot) and Luther Burden III (ankle) have been ruled out of Saturday’s game against the Green Bay Packers (7:20 p.m. / FOX).

Caleb Williams - Sit

Quarterback Caleb Williams only has three games this season with at least three touchdown passes; two out of three of those games were against two of the worst defenses in the NFL - the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals. On the other hand, Green Bay is one of the better defenses when it comes to limiting the fantasy points of opposing quarterbacks. With Micah Parsons being out for the season with a torn ACL, that could change. However, with Chicago’s wide receiver injuries, this is not an ideal matchup for Williams. He should stay on the bench once again.

DJ Moore - Start in PPR Leagues

His last outing against the Packers was quite poor - one reception for -4 yards. However, last week against Cleveland, Moore had arguably his best game of the season with 69 receiving yards and two touchdowns. It marks the second time in the last four weeks Moore has had a multi-touchdown game. Furthermore, with Odunze and Burden III out, Moore will need to play a crucial role in this game. Perhaps his yards will not be enough to justify starting him in non-points per reception (PPR) leagues. However, the number of receptions he should get makes him a logical start in PPR leagues.

D’Andre Swift - Start

Everything starts on the ground for Chicago. Coming off his two-touchdown performance against the Cleveland Browns last week, Swift has some momentum on his side headed into this game. While there is some uncertainty with how Green Bay’s defensive front is going to look with Parsons out, this is still a game where Swift is going to be relied on to set the tone. He also had four targets against the Packers in their last matchup, his highest since week 10 against the New York Giants. Especially in PPR leagues, Swift should get a lot of fantasy points with the volume he will get. Odunze and Burden III being out will only add to this.

Colston Loveland - Start

Green Bay is not the best matchup for tight ends, but sometimes volume outweighs the matchup. Moore and Loveland are going to be Williams’ primary targets in this game. Furthermore, Loveland scored a touchdown last time these two teams faced off. Loveland will get more targets this time around and could find the endzone once again. Given how difficult it is to find good tight ends, Loveland should be in your starting lineup.

Kyle Monangai - Sit

Over the past two weeks, Monangai has combined for just 90 yards and has not had any touchdowns. Furthermore, he has not been involved in the pass game for most of the season. Swift has started to take back control of the run game, and even though Monangai does see some action, it is no longer enough to start him in fantasy football. Monangai should be on the bench for the remainder of the fantasy season.
