Cubs release eight minor leaguers

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton  ·  Senior Editor ·

It's the offseason and that means a myriad of moves by ballclubs trying to bolster their rosters.

The Chicago Cubs have released eight minor leaguers RHP Tomy Sanchez, RHP Derek Casey, RHP Michael McAvene, RHP Jarod Wright, LHP Scott Kobos, C Malcom Quintero, C Jake Washer, OF Raino Coran.

The headline of the group is righty pitcher Michael McAvene who was a Cubs third-round draft pick from 2019.

Best of luck to this group and hopefully, most of these players will latch on to another team and keep their dreams of playing in the big leagues alive.
