Justin Steele injury update |
Chicago Cubs ace Justin Steele was scratched for tonight's ballgame against the Pirates with an elbow injury.
Steele is upbeat, however. He got an MRI, and it appears that despite no definite timeline, he will still be able to pitch this season. "Still a little tight," Steele said. "Dealing with some soreness and been in the training room trying to work that stuff out. I got some imaging done today. I was happy with the news. We're getting some more eyes and more opinions on it, and then we'll go from there. There was no severe damage or anything like that. Just some inflammation that was expected to be seen. Cubs manager Craig Counsell told the media that the team is halfway through its evaluation of Steele's injury and has yet to decide whether to put him on the injured list. Steele has a 5-5 record with a 3.09 ERA, 131 strikeouts, and an impressive 1.09 WHIP this season. "There was no severe nerve damage or anything like that."
