Roster Moves: Chicago Cubs reduce spring roster to 47

MESA – The Chicago Cubs today reduced the spring roster from 50 to 47 players.

Three non-roster invitees have been assigned to minor league camp: right-handed pitchers Chris Clarke and Sam McWilliams and left-handed pitcher Brad Wieck.

Chicago’s spring roster of 47 players consists of 24 pitchers (which includes 6 non-roster invitees), five catchers (three non-roster invitees), 11 infielders (three non-roster invitees), six outfielders (one non-roster invitee) and one infielder/outfielder.
