Attended Amelia (OH) High School where he won three letters in baseball and sat out senior year due to right arm surgery... Played three years of basketball and averaged 20.3 points and 6.7 rebounds. Attended Wright State (OH) University without a scholarship and was cut from the baseball team as a freshman… Came back as a redshirt sophomore and changed to a sidearm delivery in his junior year... Was 6-5 with a 1.53 ERA and 22 saves in 80 games (all in relief) over three years... Named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Year as a junior...
