Cubs jump into ESPN's Top 10 Power Rankings

by - Senior Editor -

The Cubs have rebounded from a rough few weeks as they are currently sitting above .500 at 14-12 record and only 2.5 games behind the first place Cardinals.

ESPN released their latest MLB Power Rankings on Monday and the Cubs are sitting at No. 10 overall.

"Addison Russell could return by the end of the week," ESPN.com said. "Uprooting Javier Baez from shortstop seems dicey, but Russell would upgrade the middle infield overall defensively, since second base has been manned by Daniel Descalso, David Bote and Ben Zobrist. All salient statements about Russell's off-field troubles aside, adding a Gold Glove-caliber fielder can only help what has been an underperforming defensive unit."

The Top 10 rankings in order were the Dodgers, Astros, Rays, Cardinals, Yankees, Mariners, Twins, Indians, Phillies, and Cubs.

The worst five teams according to the rankings were the Giants, White Sox, Royals, Orioles, and Marlins.
