NFL Power Rankings 2020: Week 2 Edition |
1. Chiefs 1-0 - The reigning Super Bowl champions will remain at the top of our list until we have a reason to change. Pat Mahomes threw three touchdowns in the opener and led the Chiefs to a win over the Texans.Clyde Edwards-Helaire looked like a star week one with over 100 yards on the ground, and this offense is special.
2. Ravens 1-0- The revenge tour is under way for Baltimore. Another year another week one blowout for the Ravens. Lamar Jackson leads a high powered offense with one of the best defenses in the league — look out for the Ravens in 2020, they’ve got something to prove. 3. Saints 1-0 - After losing in the postseason in heartbreaking fashion three years in a row, Drew Brees resigned with one goal in mind : a Lombardi Trophy. Adding Malcom Jenkins to the secondary and Emmanuel Sanders to an already high powered offense should bode well for the Saints and it did week one. Despite not performing as we’ll as they would have liked, the Saints comfortably opened the year with a win over the Buccaneers. 4. Seahawks 1-0 - Russell Willson had a phenomenal week one and the Seawhawks look poised to make some noise this year. We new the offense was loaded with weapons, and Wilson will have his fun with them. The defense had a skid game against Atlanta as well, one of the scariest offenses in the league. 5. Packers 1-0 - The Packers quietly went 13-3 last season and started off year 2 of the Matt Lafleur era with a bang. Rodgers put on a quarterback clinic and the offense looked incredible. The defense gave up some heavy points to the Vikings, but the performance in and of itself was enough for top 5 honors. 6. Bills 1-0 - The AFC East is finally for the taking and the Bills look primed to take it. Josh Allen had his best throwing game as a quarterback in week one, and it helped that his offense has gained Stefon Diggs, and the defense didn’t really lose anybody. Maybe the Patriots could finally dethroned. 7. 49ers 0-1 - The 49ers lost last season’s Super Bowl and a few important pieces, but still have a highly talented roster in one of the leagues toughest divisions. The issue for the 49ers has been health and that was on display on Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals. The niners are loaded with talent, but need the health to be as lethal as a year ago. 8. Steelers - A healthy James Connor, Ju-Ju Smith-Schuster, Ben Roethlisberger and the addition of Eric Ebron to pair with what was one of the league’s top defenses should be a scary thought for the rest of the AFC — the Steelers are a team you should not sleep on. They put that on display in Monday night’s win over the Giants where Saquon was held to just six yards rushing and the offense put up 26 points. 9. Titans - A year after making the AFC Championship, the Titans look poised to take advantage of a division that has lacked a true contender. Tennessee was able to retain Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry, which was their bread and butter down the stretch. The Titans have a few defensive moves to go, but signing Jadeveon Clowney certainly helps. And the Titans kept their hot streak alive with a week one win over the Broncos in prime time. 10. Buccaneers - Sure they have added six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady to quarterback an offense that had two of the top five receivers in the NFL a year ago. Oh yeah, and Rob Gronkowski signed there. Oh yeah, and Leonard Fournette. Plus they had one of the NFL’s best defenses in the second half last year. A lot of excitement in Tampa Bay for the year ahead. BUT it doesn’t matter if they can’t build chemistry together, and they certainly did not have it in week one. 11. Cowboys - The Cowboys have an extremely talented team but have yet to be able to fully piece it all together, and that was once again the case on Sunday. With Mike McCarthy now running things in Dallas and the Cowboys franchise tagging Dak Prescott and resigning Amari Cooper — the Cowboys are looking to put it all together this season, but failed to truly get going against the Rams on Sunday night football. 12. Patriots - 2020 will be the Patriot’s first crack at life without Tom Brady. While the AFC East does not appear to be loaded, this will be the most competitive the division will be in years. Cam Newton is under center leading this cast of nobodies — but if I have learned one thing in my time as a football fan, it is do not doubt Bill Belichick. That way of thinking proved correct week one as the Patriots had enough to beat the Dolphins. 13. Vikings - The talent of the Vikings roster has never been in question, but their ceiling withe Kirk Cousins under center has been. The Vikings impressed by beating the Saints in New Orleans last postseason, and despite losing a lot on the defensive side and offensive side; the Vikings are looking to make another run at the playoffs. Week one was a step in the wrong direction as the Packers ran whatever they wanted against the defense. 14. Cardinals - In Kyler Murray’s rookie season, the Cardinals were able to win some impressive games. Take Kliff Kingsbury’s offense and add all-pro DeAndre Hopkins to it, while also adding to the defense — the Cardinals suddenly appear as a team that could go from last place to the playoffs in 2020. They certainly looked like it as they took down the 49ers. 15. Eagles - Philadelphia has battled injuries for the past few seasons, as we all are awaiting what Carson Wentz can do with a fully healthy team. If this is the year, the Eagles could turn heads. But they have lacked consistency, and struggled once again in week one against the football team. 16. Colts 0-1 17. Texans 0-1 18. Rams 1-0 19. Bears 1-0 20. Falcons 0-1 21. Raiders 1-0 22. Broncos 0-1 23. Chargers 1-0 24. Panthers 0-1 25. Browns 0-1 26. Lions 0-1 27. Football Team 1-0 28. Jaguars 1-0 29. Bengals 0-1 30. Dolphins 0-1 31. Giants 0-1 32.
