CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs and Marquee Sports Network today announced the launch of Cubs UNconventional, a weeklong celebration to kick off the 2021 season, complete with exclusive Cubs content on social media, special programming on Marquee Sports Network, interactive experiences, fan giveaways and much more. The celebration begins Sunday, February 21, and will run through Friday, February 26, with each day centered around a specific theme.

Starting with “Kids Sunday” February 21, fans will be treated to a fan favorite, the Kids Only Press Conference presented by Advocate Children’s Hospital, where kids from Advocate Children’s Hospital and kids of Cubs Season Ticket Holders will pose questions to current Cubs players and Clark the Cub. “Kids Sunday” also will feature other fun moments for kids, such as virtual autographs from Clark the Cub, mystery bag giveaways and an interactive Snapchat lens.

“Marquee Monday” will follow on the one-year anniversary of the launch of the network and will kick off with a social Q&A (#AskCubs) featuring Jon “Boog” Sciambi, the Cubs’ new television play-by-play announcer. Programming for the day also will include a behind-the-scenes tour of the network’s studio and the premiere of a new documentary on Marquee Sports Network by Cubs Productions titled “2020: Season at a Distance” presented by Advocate Health Care, which documents the Cubs’ unprecedented 2020 60-game regular season.

“Team Tuesday” will dive deeper into the 2021 team, providing fans with an inside look into the current roster through Instagram takeovers with players at Spring Training and the first-ever Cub-bee Spelling Bee. “Wrigley Wednesday” will be dedicated to the Friendly Confines where fans will have an opportunity to have their name called live from the ballpark by Cubs PA announcer Andrew Belleson and players will participate in this year’s superlative awards, “The Wrigley Awards,” where the player who is “the best dressed” or has “the best bat flip” will be crowned.

“Throwback Thursday” will pay tribute to Cubs greats while highlighting some of the best Cubs moments to date, and “Fan Friday” which celebrates the heartbeat of the Cubs organization – the fans – will cap off the week with autograph and promotional item giveaways, trivia and more.

During the full week of Cubs UNconventional, fans across Illinois also can purchase Cubs Charities 50/50 Raffle tickets online starting Sunday, February 21, at 10 a.m. CST through Friday, February 26, at noon CST.
