Deshaun Watson says Bears 'never once talked to me' before 2017 NFL Draft |
The Chicago Bears have had a tough few years watching the lack of player progression with their young quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
Most Bears fans have been saddened by the fact that the Bears could have gotten franchise quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson in the draft by merely staying put and not moving up in the 2017 NFL Draft. It was a bizarre selection as Watson was a national championship quarterback while Trubisky was selected off the potential of one good senior season at North Carolina. Watson ended being drafted with the No. 12 pick by the Houston Texans and has become an MVP-caliber quarterback. That important moment has passed, but Watson decided to put the dagger in the Bears by responding on Twitter that the team never spoke with him in person in evaluating him. The bears NEVER ONCE talked to me.. https://t.co/nMX7JKW99P The selection of Trubisky has been scrutinized as of late as the team didn't pick up his fifth-year player option recently. It was the right move by the organization as you need to make him earn it on the field. Check out the following video as it appears that the Bears were in attendance at his Pro Day according to Watson: From our vault: We love @deshaunwatson but it does appear he did talk to the @ChicagoBears at least once before the 2017 #NFLDraft ?? pic.twitter.com/B8c6fiyY6z
