Anthony Rizzo injury update

by - Senior Editor -

This is not ideal news for the Northsiders as they open up a six-game road trip.

Chicago Cubs standout first baseman Anthony Rizzo won't start for the second straight game as he is dealing with a back issue. Kris Bryant will get the nod at first base against the Reds tonight.

Rizzo told reporters on Tuesday that he will need "just a couple days" before he will be ready to start again as he will continue to get treatment on his back.

This sounds like the Cubs will get their unofficial captain back closer to the end of the week which doesn't sound like ideal news. However, if you can replace your first baseman with a former MVP, it's not the end of the world.

Rizzo is currently batting .252 with ten homers and 29 RBIs this season.
