SAN DIEGO – The Chicago Cubs today activated outfielder Jake Marisnick from the 10-day injured list and optioned right-handed pitcher Kohl Stewart to Triple-A Iowa.
Marisnick, 30, is batting .264 (14-for-53) with three doubles, two triples, four home runs and 14 RBI in 27 games for Chicago this season. He landed on the 10-day injured list, May 10, with a right hamstring strain. In two injury rehab games with Iowa, June 2-3, he was 1-for-6 with a double. A right-handed hitting outfielder, Marisnick has batted .230 (409-for-1,777) with 83 doubles, 12 triples, 60 home runs, 197 RBI and 75 stolen bases in 728 games spanning all or part of nine seasons with Miami (2013-14), Houston (2014-19), the Mets (2020) and Cubs. Stewart, 26, is 1-1 with a 3.12 ERA (3 ER/8.2 IP) in two starts with the Cubs, walking three and striking out seven. In four starts with Iowa this season, he is 1-2 with a 3.68 ERA (9 ER/22.0 IP) with a 0.95 WHIP, walking five and striking out 23.
