Cubs lose their third base coach Will Venable to Red Sox |
The Chicago Cubs lost their team president today as Theo Epstein resigned effective on November 20.
The tough news continues as highly-regarded third base coach Will Venable is reportedly the new bench coach for the Boston Red Sox. According to multiple reports on Tuesday night, he will officially be named the new bench coach in the next 24-48 hours. He interviewed recently for the job and obviously, they liked what they saw. Venables has worked in various roles with the Cubs since 2016 as a special assistant in the front office (2016-2017) before stints coaching first base (2018-2019) and third base (2020). However, the 38-year-old wants to one day be a manager at the big league level, and this new job puts him one step closer to achieving his professional goals. Congratulations, Will!
Congrats to Will Venable, who's been hired as the Red Sox bench coach.
