That didn't last long.
The Chicago Cubs have released veteran reliever Brandon Workman according to the MiLB transactions page. In 2021 with the Cubs, he had 10 appearances pitching in 8 innings, giving up 11 hits, 9 runs, and 7 walks for an ERA of 6.75. He was signed by the Cubs this past offseason on a one-year, $1 million deal. Obviously, it didn't work out on this bounce-back candidate as he was designated for assignment last week. For his career, he has a 3.96 ERA and 25 saves. Now he is a free agent and will likely find a spot somewhere as he has the potential to be a bullpen piece for somebody.
