Cubs reportedly meeting with Roki Sasaki

The Chicago Cubs are set to meet with star pitcher Roki Sasaki in Los Angeles on Friday, according to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score.

The 23-year-old Sasaki is known for his blazing 100 MPH fastball and devastating splitter, making him one of the most coveted pitching prospects.

If the Cubs could entice Sasaki to the Northside in 2025, they would have a stacked pitching staff.

The Cubs already have two Japanese players on their roster with Shota Imanaga and Seiya Suzuki which could make Chicago attractive for Sasaki.

“Seiya and Shota have had really good experiences,” Hoyer said recently. “I think we’re an appealing destination for any Japanese player.”

The Dodgers and Padres are reportedly the front-runners for Sasaki's services. However, a solid pitch by Jed Hoyer could keep the Cubs in the mix.
