SAN DIEGO – The Chicago Cubs today recalled left-handed pitcher Luke Little and right-handed pitcher Daniel Palencia and reinstated infielder Vidal Bruján from the 10-day injured list. In corresponding moves, right-handed pitcher Eli Morgan has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow impingement and right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson and infielder Matt Shaw have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Little, 24, has made four appearances with Iowa this season, all in relief, and posted a 3.86 ERA (2 ER/4.2 IP) with four strikeouts and a 0.86 WHIP. He pitched to a 3.46 ERA (10 ER/26.0 IP) with a .174 opponent average and a .256 slugging percentage against in 30 games with the Cubs in 2024. His opponent slugging percentage ranked 10th among pitchers (min. 30 G).

Palencia, 25, is 0-1 with one save, a 2.25 ERA (1 ER/4.0 IP) and seven strikeouts, compared to two walks in five relief outings with Iowa in 2025. He is the lone I-Cubs pitcher to throw over 100 mph and holds the third-hardest four-seam fastball thrown in Triple-A (101.7 mph). Palencia is 5-4 with one save and a 5.02 ERA (24 ER/43.0 IP) in 37 career major league games, all out of the bullpen, with the Cubs.

Bruján, 27, was acquired from Miami on December 29, 2024. He made one appearance with the Cubs this season, entering the game on March 19 in Tokyo as a pinch runner, before being placed on the injured list with a right elbow sprain on March 23. In three rehab appearances, Bruján hit .308 (4-for-13) with one double and one stolen base.

Morgan, 28, has seven outings with the Cubs this season, holding the opponent scoreless in five of those seven games.

Pearson, 28, is 0-1 with a 10.38 ERA (10 ER/8.2 IP) in eight appearances with Chicago in 2025.

Shaw, 23, made his major league debut on March 18, in Tokyo, and has played in 18 of the club’s games this year. He is hitting .172 (10-for-58) with one double, one home run and 11 runs scored.

The Cubs play the San Diego Padres tonight at 8:40 p.m. CT at Petco Park in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score and, in Spanish, on WRTO 1200 AM.
