Another lefty for the Cubs starting staff.

The Chicago Cubs have signed veteran lefty pitcher Matthew Boyd to a two-year, $29 million deal according to multiple reports on Monday.

The deal also includes $1 million in incentives ($500K per year).

MLB insider Jon Heyman was the first to report the news.

After recovering from Tommy John surgery, Boyd made eight starts in the regular season, posting a 2.72 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings last season.

During the postseason, he allowed only one run in 11 2/3 innings over three starts.

He was playing on a one-year deal worth $740,000 last season.

Over 10 seasons, he has a 46-69 record with a 4.85 ERA in 182 appearances (168 starts).

The 33-year-old was a sixth-round pick by the Blue Jays in the 2013 MLB Draft.

The Cubs have not confirmed this new signing yet.

This move was necessary as the Cubs wanted another lefty starter to accompany Shota Imanaga and Justin Steele.
