Former Cubs reliever agrees to $10 million deal with Mets

by - Senior Editor -

Another day and another reliever is off the boards during free agency.

Former Chicago Cubs left-handed reliever Justin Wilson has reportedly signed a two-year contract worth $10 million with the New York Mets on Friday. The deal is pending a physical.

The contract includes $500,000 in performance bonuses each year.

Wilson had a 3.46 ERA, 69 strikeouts, and high 1.43 WHIP with the Cubs last season. He held lefties to a .190 batting average in 2018.

His 5.43 walks per nine innings have been an area of concern over the last two seasons. However, he is a reliable bullpen performer with a 3.43 ERA and 11.9 strikeouts per nine innings during that span.
