Steve Cishek is staying in Chicago but not with the Cubs.

Former Chicago Cubs reliever Steve Cishek has agreed to a one-year deal worth nearly $6 million guaranteed with the White Sox according to ESPN.

The deal includes a club option for a second year to be worth $12 million in total (5.25 mil in 2020 and a $6.75 mil in 2021). The buy out in the second year is 750K.

In 2019, Cishek had a 2.95 ERA with seven saves, 57 strikeouts, and a 1.20 WHIP. According to Baseball-Reference, Cishek was worth 4.1 WAR during his two-year span with the Cubs.

He was a talented arm that had a cumulative 2.55 ERA, and 36 holds with the Cubs.

However, the Cubs are shedding payroll, and his arm has been used a ton as he is only one of three pitchers to have at pitched at least 150 games in total over the last two seasons.
