Javy Baez responds to booing fans with thumbs-down celebration |
El Mago is no longer in the friendly confines.
Former Cubs star Javy Baez is having a tough transition to his new team with the New York Mets as his team has heard a chorus of boos with their recent stretch of bad play. "In my case, they (the fans) gotta be better," Baez said to the media about all the boos his team has been hearing. "It’s just how I feel. I love the fans I like playing for the fans, but we can’t have our fans against us." Baez doesn't want the fans boos to impact his team's play on the field. "It feels bad when I strike out and I get booed. It doesn’t really get to me, but I want to let them know that when we’re successful, we’re going to do the same thing, to let them know how it feels. They’re going to put more pressure on the team." Baez will start booing the fans back that boo him. "To let them know that when we don’t get success, we’re going to get booed. So they’re going to get booed when we get success." For the season, Baez is hitting .242 with 26 homers and 72 RBIs.
