REGISTER HEREREGISTER HEREREGISTER HERECHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago Cubs today placed left-handed pitcher Jordan Wicks on the 15-day injured list with a right oblique strain and recalled right-handed pitcher Keegan Thompson from Triple-A Iowa.
Thompson, 29, is 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA (7 ER/12.2 IP) in nine games in relief across two stints with the Cubs in 2024. He spent time on the injured list with an illness from May 12-June 7. In 10 relief appearances with the I-Cubs this season, the righthander is 1-1 with a 4.40 ERA (7 ER/14.1 IP) and 20 strikeouts. Wicks, 24, left his start yesterday with the injury after tossing 1.2 scoreless innings. He had allowed one run in 5.0 IP in two games (one start) since being activated from the injured list June 7. All told this season, Wicks is 1-2 with a 4.18 ERA (13 ER/28.0 IP) in seven games (six starts) with the Cubs. The Cubs play St. Louis today at 1:20 p.m. CT at Wrigley, a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score.
