WATCH: EL MAGO!!! Javier Baez hits game-tying two-run blast in extras |
CHICAGO — Coming through in the clutch, Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez crushed a game-tying two-run home run with the game on the line. "El Mago" smashed a no-doubter in the bottom of the eighth on Tuesday, tying the Los Angeles Dodgers at three runs apiece in the nightcap of a doubleheader.
With two outs and second baseman Ildemaro Vargas on third base, Baez kept the Cubs alive by taking reliever Mitch White deep with a 391-foot blast to left field. The crowd at Wrigley Field exploded with excitement as soon as Baez made the contact. The dinger, which came on a 90.9-mph four-seamer, left the yard at 104.5 mph and 22 degrees. Javy now has eight homers and 24 RBIs on the season. Redemption, your name is @javy23baez.#CubTogether pic.twitter.com/DzMLWklyYQ LARGE ?? pic.twitter.com/lOI7MgbnsM #Dodgers 3 @ #Cubs 3 [B8-2o]:
