WATCH: Javier Baez ends Jon Lester's start with 415-foot moonshot |
CHICAGO — Former Chicago Cubs starter Jon Lester was not exactly dominant in his return to Wrigley Field on Monday, as he gave up three home runs in 5 1/3 innings pitched. A 415-foot solo jack off the bat of shortstop Javier Baez ended Lester's start in the bottom of the sixth.
Marking the ninth home run of the season for Javy, the towering moonshot was driven to the opposite field, with the drive to right putting the Cubs up 5-3. Lester offered an 86.4-mph cutter that "El Mago" sent into the seats. The long ball left the bat at 107.3 mph and 25 degrees. "Big Jon" was subsequently removed and received a standing ovation from fans in attendance while heading to the dugout.
