WATCH: Matt Duffy swats go-ahead three-run jack, his first homer with Cubs |
DETROIT — Going yard for the first time in a Chicago Cubs uniform, third baseman Matt Duffy gave the Cubs the lead over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Duffy's go-ahead three-run jack came in the top of the fifth off Detroit Tigers reliever Alex Lange, pushing the Cubs atop the Tigers by the score of 7-6.
Left fielder Kris Bryant and first baseman Anthony Rizzo, both of whom singled earlier in the inning, were plated by Duffy's first long ball of the season. Lange offered up an 83.8-mph slider that Duffy drove out to left field at Comerica Park. The three-run dinger was powered out at 102.9 mph and 25 degrees.
