WATCH: Yan Gomes crushes two-run homer against Padres

Going, going, Gomes.

Chicago Cubs catcher Yan Gomes smacked a two-run homer in the second inning to put the Cubs up 2-0 during Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres.

The homer traveled an estimated 405 feet with an exit velocity of 102.4 MPH and a launch angle of 24 degrees.

With five homers already this season, Gomes is showing that he has what it takes to be a decent hitter in the Cubs' lineup.

He is second among all MLB catchers with the five homers only behind Atlanta's Sean Murphy that has six dingers.

It's a far cry from Gomes' eight homers last season with the Washington Nationals, and it's clear that Gomes has been working hard to improve his game.

Interestingly, former Cubs slugging catcher Willson Contreras only has two homers on the young season.
