CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs have set their Opening Day 30-man roster in advance of their 2020 season opener tomorrow night vs. the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cubs have placed left-handed pitcher José Quintana on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 20) with a left thumb nerve injury and placed infielder Daniel Descalso on the 45-day injured list with a left ankle sprain.

The Cubs have recalled right-handed pitchers James Norwood and Dillon Maples from Triple-A Iowa. Right-handed pitchers Ryan Tepera and Jharel Cotton have been optioned to the club’s South Bend Summer Camp roster. Right-handed pitcher Colin Rea, who was optioned to Iowa on March 10, has been assigned to the South Bend roster.

The Cubs have selected the contracts of catcher Josh Phegley and left-handed pitcher Rex Brothers. Infielder/outfielder Robel García has been designated for assignment.

The Cubs have assigned four non-roster players to the South Bend Summer Camp Roster: infielder Hernán Pérez, outfielder Ian Miller, catcher P.J. Higgins and left-handed pitcher Danny Hultzen.

Outfielder Mark Zagunis has opted out for the season and has been placed on the restricted list. He is no longer part of the club’s 60-man player pool.
