CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today reinstated catcher Willson Contreras from the 10-day injured list, reinstated outfielder Seiya Suzuki from the restricted list, optioned infielder Jared Young to Triple-A Iowa and designated outfielder Michael Hermosillo for assignment.

He is hitting .246 (97-for-395) with 22 doubles, two triples, 21 home runs and 54 RBI in 107 games with Chicago this season. Contreras this season was named the starting catcher for the N.L. Originally signed by Chicago as an international free agent in July of 2009, Contreras has a career .257 average (632-for-2,460) with 132 doubles, 10 triples, 116 home runs and 364 RBI in 728 games since making his major league debut in the 2016 campaign.

Young, 27, made his major league debut with Chicago on September 16 vs. Colorado and in six games has hit .263 (5-for-19) with two doubles, three walks and one stolen base.

Hermosillo, 27, has hit .115 (7-for-61) with two doubles, four RBI and a stolen base in 31 games for the Cubs this season.
