Cubs make several roster moves

MESA – The Chicago Cubs today reduced the spring roster from 34 to 30 players.

Outfielder Alexander Canario and right-handed pitcher Hayden Wesneski have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Catcher Joe Hudson has been returned to minor league camp and catcher Jorge Alfaro has been released.

Chicago’s spring roster of 30 players consists of 15 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders (one non-roster invitee), five outfielders (one non-roster invitee) and one infielder/outfielder.
