Bears defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano retiring |
There certainly will be some shakeup for the Chicago Bears this offseason.
For the third time in four seasons, the Bears will be hiring a new defensive coordinator as Chuck Pagano is retiring from coaching. "This has been an amazing ride and I have made countless relationships that I will cherish forever," Pagano told the media Wednesday. The Bears were not elite as expecting regarding defense this past season as they were only 11th in total defense and 14th in scoring defense. Pagano has been in the NFL coaching since 2001, including time with the Browns, Ravens, Colts (head coach), and Bears. His coaching career started way back in 1984 when he was a graduate assistant at USC. Best wishes to Pagano in retirement as he is one of the good guys in the sport. In other coaching news, Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace are being retained by the organization. Congrats on a phenomenal career, Chuck Pagano! Thank you for your passion, dedication & all that you gave to the Bears. Enjoy retirement! pic.twitter.com/0nt4tZTPWP
They’ll scapegoat DC Chuck Pagano & pretend to make some changes. Ryan Pace will make more aggressive off-season moves & put this team further in the hole for the future. Matt Nagy will continue to call plays with no accountability.
With Chuck Pagano retiring, have to imagine #Bears will at least consider DL coach Jay Rodgers for defensive coordinator role. They hold him in high regard and have for some time. With the staff surely under a win-now mandate, it can be challenging to get top outside candidates.
Not a surprise that the Bears are retaining both Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy. Will they add another voice into football operations????? If not why will anything be different?
So Bears will begin searching for new defensive coordinator to replace Pagano. It's not as good of job as it was when Pagano replaced Fangio; key front-7 guys on wrong side of 30, secondary that underachieved & offense with no identity. Plus, head coach/GM on hot seat. Not ideal.

Buckle up #Bears fans. Enjoy mediocrity.
