Start’em or Sit’em in Fantasy Football: Bears vs Packers

by - Correspondent -

The Chicago Bears cannot go any lower than they did this past Sunday against the New England Patriots. They only scored three points, and Chicago’s players' fantasy numbers were dismal.

Do the Bears have anyone worthy of starting against the Green Bay Packers this coming Sunday (Noon/FOX)?

Caleb Williams - Sit

Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams surely is not worth starting in any fantasy format. He only had 120 passing yards last week. During Chicago’s three-game losing streak, Williams has only thrown for 468 yards and had no touchdowns. Going against a defense that is only allowing 13.7 fantasy points per game, this is definitely not the time to take a risk on Williams. Further, he has shown no reason to take that chance.

DJ Moore - Sit

Like last week, veteran wide receiver DJ Moore is in a position where he must prove himself worthy of starting before he can go back into fantasy starting lineups. The targets are not necessarily the problem, as he has 15 targets over the last two games. However, Williams’ accuracy issues have led to Moore having a 60.6 percent catch percentage throughout the season. That is down by 10 percent from last season.

D’Andre Swift - Consider Starting in PPR Leagues

Green Bay allows 17.7 points per game to opposing running backs, so there is some potential upside. Swift has been getting some inconsistent action in the passing game, potentially giving him some upside in points-per-reception (PPR) leagues. He only had 65 yards from scrimmage last week, his lowest since week three. However, under a new offensive scheme with Thomas Brown as the offensive coordinator, Swift could definitely see a lot more action. Therefore, he has a lot of upside and could be worth starting in PPR leagues. This is particularly true for people with James Conner or Bucky Irving as starting running backs, as both of them are on bye.

Rome Odunze - If You Really Need To, Think About It

With talent like DJ Moore and Keenan Allen in the wide receiver room, it is hard to believe that rookie receiver Rome Odunze is the leading receiver for the Chicago Bears after the first nine weeks of the season. Allen, Moore, and Odunze all had six targets against the Patriots last week. Odunze has big-play opportunity, giving him a lot of upside going into this game. If you are in a position where you need a receiver, consider plugging Odunze into your lineup.

Cole Kmet - Sit

The tight-end position has been difficult this fantasy season. If you were watching the waiver wire, you probably picked up Cade Otton with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now, Otton is on bye and you need someone to put into his place. Kmet has been a staple in Chicago for years. Chicago fans are used to Kmet putting up solid numbers, particularly in the month of November when he has 56 receptions for 534 yards and five touchdowns. Things are drastically different with quarterback Caleb Williams at the helm, and Kmet is not putting up those numbers. Until Williams targets Kmet more, there is no reason for him to enter your starting lineup. However, he is worth watching in case his production improves.
