Mike Tauchman signs with rival team |
The 'Summer of Tauchman' lives on in Chicago—this time on the South Side.
Former Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman has signed a free-agent deal with the Chicago White Sox. The Cubs opted not to tender Tauchman, who was projected to earn around $2.9 million in 2025. With a crowded outfield that includes prospects like Alexander Canario, Kevin Alcantara, and Owen Caissie awaiting MLB experience, the Cubs chose to prioritize youth over keeping the 34-year-old veteran. Tauchman's move to the White Sox offers more playing opportunities, and he can stay in Chicago. Best of luck to Tauchman, a fan favorite during his time with the Cubs! Mike Tauchman had a 111 wRC+ and 1.1 fWAR in 109 games for the Cubs in 2024. Summer of Tauchman continues but on the southside of Chicago this time pic.twitter.com/xmMVmW1bZo
