WATCH: Cubs fans form ridiculously long 'beer snake' at Wrigley Field |
CHICAGO — On a night that saw Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez eat from a giant bag of popcorn in the dugout, Cubs fans at Wrigley Field drew attention for the humongous "beer snake" they formed in the seats. With the Friendly Confines back at full capacity, the somewhat new tradition of fans stacking their beer cups to insane lengths has officially returned to the North Side.
ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" broadcast of the Cubs' clash with the St. Louis Cardinals devoted a fairly substantial amount of airtime to the captivating scene of fans scurrying to add more plastic cups to the serpentine structure. Spanning a bevy of rows in the stands, the impressive beer snake was certainly a sight to behold.
