NFL Power Rankings: Bears stay in Top 15

by - Staff Writer -

Another regular season has now come and gone in the NFL. It has been filled with drama, injuries, comebacks, and more. Most importantly, 14 teams will have their seasons continue.

At Bears HQ, we would love to deliver our end of regular-season NFL Power Rankings after a fun and wild week 17.

We decided to explain the top 15:

1 Chiefs 14-2 - The reigning Super Bowl champions have stayed steady with the top spot in our rankings. After a tough win over the Panthers, the Chiefs continue to rattle off wins and look to be the cream of the crop in the AFC. A strong comeback against the Raiders and domination of the Bucs and Broncos solidifies this choice. A win over the Dolphins, Saints, and Falcons gives the Chiefs the AFC’s top spot and our top spot. They rested in week 17, so they won’t drop for their loss.

2. Bills 13-3 - The AFC East belongs to the Bills. Looking to stay hot, the Bills lost a heartbreaker on a Hail Mary play against Arizona. Otherwise, the Bills have been one of the best teams in football as of late and proved it when they thumped the Steelers, Broncos, and now Patriots and now Dolphins in consecutive weeks.

3. Packers 12-3 - The Packers quietly went 13-3 last season and started year 2 of the Matt Lafleur era with a bang, and another 13-3 record to show for it. They showed issues in physicality early but are hot at the right time. The NFC goes through Lambeau, which is a good sign for Green Bay.

4. Saints 12-4 - After losing in the postseason in heartbreaking fashion three years in a row, Drew Brees returned with a Lombardi trophy in mind. Brees is back from injury, and they only lost to the Chiefs by three points, but they rebounded nicely with a dominant win to knock the Vikings out of playoff contention and beat the Panthers. The Saints are the two seed in the NFC and have won the NFC South four years in a row.

5. Seahawks 12-4 - Russell Willson and the Seahawks are now back in our top five. Not that their play has especially impressed us, but some gritty wins puts them in line for a division title and a chance at the first-round bye. Willson is still having a great season, so keep an eye on the Seahawks as they get healthy. A division title and number 3 seed in the NFC is good to hear for Seattle.

6. Buccaneers 11-5 - A team with tons of expectations is starting to show why. Off the bye, the Bucs have rattled off four wins in a row to end the regular season and have looked better in everyone.

7. Ravens 11-5- Baltimore sits at 11-5 after a tough season. At one point, the Ravens were 6-5, but they have rattled off five straight wins over the Cowboys, Browns, Jaguars, Giants, and Bengals earns Baltimore a playoff spot and the five seed in the NFC.

8. Steelers 12-4 - The Steelers have looked beatable lately, and they finally took their first loss to the Washington Football team. Now, the Bills handed them their second loss, and the Bengals gave them their third. Steelers are still good but falling fast — a nice win over the Colts keeps them afloat. Resting their starters in week 17 doesn’t change how we feel about Pittsburgh, their a top 10 team.

9. Colts 11-5 - The Colts were in our initial top 15 heading into the year, but a loss at the hands of the Jaguars dropped them out of it. The Colts have been up and down this year, but a strong win over the Titans on Thursday Night Football and then beating the Packers was enough to raise them, but the Titans then destroyed them. A nice rebound over the Texans and now Raiders and Texans again keeps the Colts in our top ten. You never know what you’re going to get with this team, and a loss to the Steelers is why. The Colts ended their year sneaking past the Jaguars and are going into the playoffs as the seven seed, but a top ten team in our book.

10. Titans 11-5 - A year after making the AFC Championship, the Titans looked poised to take advantage of a division that has lacked a true contender. Tennessee retained Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry, which was their bread and butter down the stretch. The Titans have had ups and downs over the last few weeks. But the Titans ended the year on the right note with a dominant Derrick Henry running ramped and winning the AFC South.

11. Browns 11-5 - The Browns’ enter the playoffs for what feels like the first time. An 11-5 record in one of the NFL’s best division is impressive for Cleveland. However, losing to the Jets and barely getting past the resting Steelers leave us spectacle for the Browns in the playoffs.

12. Rams 10-6 - It was a weird year for LA. They were expected to take a step back but had some widely impressive wins in 2020. The Rams also had some questionable losses, like getting blown out by Miami and losing to the Jets for their first win of the year. But when it was all on the line, and a QB injured and players out due to Covid — Sean McVay and the defense won a game. They are getting healthy, not a team that I want to play in the NFC.

13. Dolphins 10-6 - Whether it's Ryan Fitzpatrick or Tua Tagovailoa, the Miami Dolphins won a lot of games this year. The Dolphins were in every game and had some blowout wins and hard to swallow losses to show for it. But the dolphins go into the offseason after a year that they overachieved with a great young coach, a strong defense, and a lot of draft capital. Keep an eye on Miami in the near future.

14. Bears 8-8 - Somehow, the Bears made the playoffs in a season in which they had three quarterback changes, a six-game losing streak, and lost a win and get in-game. But in the playoffs, anything can happen, especially with the Bears' revamped offense and their strong defense.

15. Football Team 7-9- The Washington Football team surprisingly won the NFC East. Although this was not an extremely talented division, when Alex Smith was under center, the Football team won some impressive games and was above .500.

The Best of the Rest:

Raiders 8-8

Giants 6-10

Cardinals 8-8

Vikings 7-9

Patriots 7-9

Chargers 7-9

Cowboys 6-10

49ers 6-10

Texans 4-12

Falcons 4-12

Eagles 4-11-1

Bengals 4-11-1

Panthers 5-11

Broncos 5-11

Lions 5-11

Jets 2-14

Jaguars 1-15

Keep an eye out as we will periodically update these rankings during the season.
