by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs announced on Monday that young reliever Carl Edwards Jr. has been activated from the bereavement list and the team has placed utility infielder Tommy La Stella on it with the passing of his grandmother.

La Stella is 1-for-4 with a double with a RBI and two walks in six games this season. For his career, he is a .258 hitter with four homers, 54 RBI, and a .337 on-base percentage.

Edwards Jr. has been lights out this season with a 0.00 ERA over 4.2 innings pitched giving up only one hit with three walks and four strikeouts. He will be available to pitch tonight against the Pirates after missing the last three games because of a death in the family.
